Elections are full of events and opportunities to get involved with a local candidates campaign. You can attend rallies, debates, meet the candidate events, but some of the most rewarding experiences comes from volunteering with a local campaign. Volunteering with a candidate doesn't obligate you to vote for them, but it is a good idea to support someone you would like to see win the election -- because that is what you are (trying) to help them do.
We've included a list of local campaigns below, and their contact information for students looking to volunteer with a candidate. Everything is on a volunteer basis and you do not have to commit your whole life to volunteering! As Trent students, we believe studies should always come first... but this may lead to some interesting learning opportunities as well!
Conservative Party of Canada -- Michael Skinner:
Volunteers can contact the campaign's office via eMail at [email protected], through the Conservative party website at http://www.volunteer.conservative.ca, or by telephone at: 705-243-6976.
Liberal Party of Canada -- Maryam Monsef:
Interested volunteers should visit Ms. Monsef's website - maryammonsef.liberal.ca/volunteer/.
Strength in Democracy -- Toban Leckie:
Interested volunteers should get in touch through Mr. Leckie's Facebook page, or the local campaign's website - http://www.strengthinpeterborough.ca.
New Democratic Party (NDP) -- Dave Nickle:
Interested volunteers should visit Mr. Nickle's website - davenickle.ndp.ca/volunteer.
By getting engaged in electoral politics through volunteering, we hope you may be persuaded to (at the very least) consider voting in this election. Best of luck to all of our local campaigns!
